Using A Cement Mixer To Clean A Gas Tank: Edd China’s Workshop Diaries Might Be Going Off The Deep End

Using A Cement Mixer To Clean A Gas Tank: Edd China’s Workshop Diaries Might Be Going Off The Deep End

A cement mixer? Hmmmm. Think about it and it starts to make some sense, especially if you watched the last episode where Edd was trying to get the rust out of the Range Rover gas tank. He put a bunch of screws in the tank and sloshed it around a bunch with rust treatment, but you can only do so much by hand. I do have to say, I probably wouldn’t do any of this if it were my project since a replacement fuel tank for this rig is less than $200 and means you’ll not have to worry about more crap coming out of the tank over time. But I also get trying to fix what you can and staying under a budget, so I won’t judge him.

What do you think? Will you try this out on a project? Or will you take the easy road and get a new fuel tank?

Here is the description from the video:

This week I find out whether a cement mixer and a bag of screws can clean a rusty fuel tank and I make some replacement fuel lines so the struggle continues on my mate John’s garden find 1986 Range Rover, surely sometime soon we are going to finally get it to start!?

Done that before works pretty well.

Can also use a tractor rear wheel if you jack the rear end up and strap the tank to the side it and leave it idling in gear.

But with the price of new poly tanks vs sealer- having a new tank if its available is still likely a better way to go

I hung an old Patrol tank with traps from an engine hoist. Shake rattle and roll then rotate and repeat. Not everyone has a cement mixer or tractor, and I don’t think he is going off the deep end.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Definitely lost some respect with Ed. Please do not promote stupid.

If you ever hung one up and shook it for half an hour you might understand. We put a lb or 2 of nuts and bolts.some fuel oil.
Super strap it to the rear wheel. Then go to
Work in the field. Mowing or whatever.
If it starts leaking all over(too many to fix)
    Junk it & find another.
    Do not use gas/flamble
    Liquid. Also a way to
    Solder/patch holes
    Safely, but it’s so simple
    You’d probably call it
    Stooped too.
