Tools are cool. I don’t know a single car guy or gal that doesn’t dig their tools. After all, how in the heck are we supposed to build these things without the right tools. I have lots of tools, and yet there are hundreds of tools I still want and need to complete my wish list. Some are extravagant, but most are not. Some of my favorite tools are those that my grandpa made, or that I made in my own garage. Not every tool on my wish list is something I can build myself though, and quite frankly it wouldn’t make sense even if I could. But some stuff is cool to make yourself, and makes sense.

This sheet metal brake, or bender, for instance. This isn’t the simplest project, that’s for sure, but I think it is a doable project that someone can do with a welder and some hand tools. And the result is pretty impressive. Plus, your friends will totally be envious because you have a sheet metal brake. When you tell them that you  made it yourself, they are going to feel really inferior. When they find out your sheet metal brake has two different radius options AND a finger brake attachment, they are just going to fall over from pure disbelief.

In truth I’ve never seen a small brake with as many features as this thing has and I am really looking forward to making one.
