Which LS Intake Is The Best? Cheap Truck Intake Or Big Money Brands?

Sometimes cheap is good. Sometimes expensive is better. But which one is better when it comes to LS Intake manifolds? Can the factory GM truck manifold that came on a jillion LS engines keep up with the big money intakes? I can tell you that we’ve made ridiculous power with a stock intake, and we’ve made ridiculous power with an expensive intake. When we built Beer Money for the $10K drag shootout we used a generic sheet metal intake manifold that everyone said wouldn’t live under boost, and proceeded to win $10,o00 with it. We also proceeded to win all kinds of other races with it too, but only after splitting it at the seams a few times and having to have Bigun weld it back up.

It would eventually come apart bad enough that it required a pretty extensive rebuild. But that was with 30 psi plus of boost A BUNCH of times. Like all of them.

But how do you decide if a low buck intake is better than a high dollar intake? Is it purely based on the power it can produce? Or do you have to factor the cost in? And does the engine combo matter? What if making crazy power isn’t what you are after? Hmmmmm. There’s more to this than just bolting on some intakes.
