Why Have We Forgotten The Basics? Simple, Standard Upgrades That WILL Make More Power.

Why Have We Forgotten The Basics? Simple, Standard Upgrades That WILL Make More Power.

We’ve gotten so focused on crazy power levels thanks to advancements in performance parts, that sometimes we get carried away for no reason. The average hot rodder that was happy with 350-400 horsepower in their lightweight street rod, cruiser pickup, or custom 5 or 10 years ago is still going to be happy with that power level in 2021. So if that’s the case, then does everyone really need to think about a major engine swap like and LS with fuel injection and all that? No, not everyone should be thinking about that kind of swap. Yes, an LS with a cam swap makes 400 horsepower, but it comes with all kinds of other stuff to buy. What if you already have a Mustang with a 302 or 351 in it? Or a Nova with a 350? You can make fun power with these combos too, and save on some other stuff because you already have this combo in the car.

You know I’m a fan of the LS platform, and like them in a lot of things, but I also think that big and small blocks are great engines and they are totally appropriate in a variety of cars at every single performance level.

In this video, Richard goes over the basics, those upgrades that have been a staple for years and shows you just how much performance gain you get from each one. Use this as a recipe for your own ride, and feel the difference in tire frying power you can get with the right combo of parts.
