Love Fire Trucks But Really Need A Hauler? This Fire Truck Based Hauler Is The Answer!

Love Fire Trucks But Really Need A Hauler? This Fire Truck Based Hauler Is The Answer!

Back in 2008 Spartan Fire Apparatus wanted to create a rig to haul their promotional trailer around to shows and events. Rather than just do the normal thing a buy a toter, the company put its fabricators to the test and asked them to build a killer tow rig that was based off of an existing fire truck chassis. The result is the machine you see above and below which is currently for sale on RacingJunk.com. This thing has racked up some miles but it was all with an older couple driving, maintaining, and loving up on the rig as they traveled the country for Spartan.

What it may lack over a traditional toter home it more than makes up in style. Who has not wanted their own fire truck before? If you say that you have never wanted a big red machine then you are a liar and a bad one at that. The cab area is big and comfy and there is visibility for days. The back of the truck has the 5th wheel and  huge storage box for clothing, guns, or whatever else you want to have with you.

We bet the thing can move out especially when there is nothing strapped to its back. Otherwise you are looking at a super capable and reliable tow rig, also one that everyone at the drags, the camp ground, or the NASCAR pits will totally love. So what do you think? Pretty awesome or just a little too off center for your tastes. As an FYI, the power plant is an 8.3L Cummins backed with an Allison automatic transmission. Bam!

Love it!! I’d lose the ugly box & extend the cab back further. It would make more room inside, like for extra seats or a fold down couch.

Kind of related… Dobson’s Toy ,& Fire Truck Museum in Bay City Mi (Same guy that owns the Mack Super Pumper) has an American La France tractor from one of those crazy tiller wheel ladder truck from the 60s that they use to tow a display trailer to local car shows and events. It’s pretty neat
