Going For Broken: Watch This Holden Blow Off The Supercharger At Over 10,000RPM!

A 327 Chevrolet can tolerate RPMs in the range of about 7,500 for only so long before a spinning a main bearing. That was the first lesson I ever learned about Engine Destruction 101. I didn’t kill the poor little small-block, so don’t blame me. But out of all of the dead engines I’ve somehow had to deal with one way or another, they fall into two classes: either they finally died the death they were begging for, or gratuitous tachometer abuse was the curtain call for what had been a solid bit of engineering. Not many V8s like going over 8,000 RPM, far less above 9,000 RPM and even NASCAR blocks start to encounter trouble when the needle dives off into the five-figure RPM range. At that point, you’ve made the decision to let fate decide what happens next. Sometimes you get away with it and live to race another day. For Blown Motorsports and their Holden, “NUTTR”, fate chose to send two middle fingers to the whole operation when the blower pretty much pushed itself clean off of the engine and onto the radiator support.

We know these burnout contests are supposed to be buck-wild and all, but that can’t be good for the pocketbook. Whatever it takes to win, we guess…

I don’t see the point of wasting all that money for stupid shit like that and the cars look GOOFY with small rear wheels/tires.

They put the small tires on for the burnout contest. Normally they have identical wheels on when the show them.
