Happy National Donut Day: Watch This Hot Rodded Big Rig Turn Slow Motion Smokey Circles

Hey, it’s National Donut Day! While this means that some of the more, ummm, motivated among us will be rip roaring to various bakeries and donuts shops for deals on their favorite flavor, it means something totally different to us. Ripping donuts is one of the most fun things you can do in the car. Whether they are violent whip style donuts on dry pavement or gracefully arcing slides on snow, there’s just something about rotating a car or truck on its axis to put a smile on our face.

Rather than go with some “normal” stuff we decided to go big with our celebration of this great gearhead holiday. Yes, a Cummins powered Peterbilt drag truck just burning the tires to the cords is how we’re celebrating today. The neatest part of this video and the donuts that the truck does is how slooowwwwww they are. The guy is able to rotate the truck, stop it, continue, etc. One thing we do know its that those rear tires had to have been decimated by the time he was done. There’s LOTS of smoke happening here.

We don’t know why, but we do know that smashing the gas and working the wheel towards opposite lock just makes us happy. The truly good drivers out there can maintain control and turn perfectly concentric donuts. Know what? Just practice today. The more you work at it the better you’ll get!
