Robin Williams had a great way of viewing the British: normally they are quiet, reserved, sophisticated and polite. This is banger racing, a hybrid of short-track racing and demolition derby. All of the cars were a step or two away from the scrapper, all of the drivers willingly got behind the wheel, and any concept of self-preservation was ditched for “pit that mother into the fence and move on, man!” And you best be assured that once it was all done, food and drink was had and pain killers were had the next day.
