Aussie BangShifter John Tearle tipped us off to this video of a Commodore Ute not only burning the tires off, but also nearly burning to the ground during an Aussie “power skid” contest. At points during this video, you can see plastic body panels melting off of the car…seriously! John believes that it probably has a blown Holden 304 in it or the engine could be LS based. Whatever it is, the mill is tough as nails and stands up to almost two minutes of virtual freewheeling right on the rev limiter. We’ve shown video of cars getting the rear tires to blaze up a little during one of these deals, but here the vehicle is legitimately on fire and it doesn’t phase the driver or passenger until they climb out, take a peek, motion fire people over and then get right back after it burning the remains of the cords (which have fused the rims by this point) off. There’s one part of this where you can totally tell the guy is just spinning on the damned rims!

The driver here does not seem to be new to the fiery side of things because the paint has been burned off the rear of the Ute before, probably during another burnout contest. All we know is that if we saw this dude’s name on the entry list of a burnout, power skid, or fire making contest, we’d relegate ourselves to spectator duty. There isn’t a chance in hell of winning against a lunatic willing to nearly burn his junk to the ground!
