Is The Cheapest Magnetic Base Drill On Amazon Worth A Crap? Watch And Find Out!

I know I’m not alone in wondering if some of the cheap tools available online are worth a damn. I know that people sometimes bash on places like Harbor Freight for selling cheap tools, but I have defended them for a long time on the basis that sometimes the cheap tool is all you need. If I don’t need to use it daily, or even monthly, then maybe the cheap one is fine for me. I think that rings true for many people. If I’m going to need a tool all the time, then I am going to get as good a one as I can afford. If not, I’ll buy what is going to work for me now and be happy if it lasts longer than that.

Because of that I’m always looking at reviews of tools that I don’t NEED, but would like to have if I found the right one at the right price. A mag drill, or magnetic base drill, is one of those tools. Sure, you can get away without one, but man they come in handy sometimes. One of those times is when drilling holes in frame rails. Anyone who has done much of that knows that a mag base drill would be a god send in those situations. They make things so much easier because you aren’t having to shove and strain and all that but instead can let the tool do the work. They also do a much more precise hole than using a hand drill, no matter how steady you are. And if you are drilling holes in a truck chassis, like a big truck, then it is almost a necessity as many of them have heat treated frame rails. They are way harder to drill, but welding them is not allowed either.

Whatever your reason for having one, when you need one you need one.

If you wondered if any of the cheap ones on Amazon were worth buying, then watch this video from Making Stuff.
