Ken Block’s Gymkhana 5 is LIVE and It Rules Pretty Hard!

Ken Block’s Gymkhana 5 is LIVE and It Rules Pretty Hard!

The fifth installment of the DC Shoes/Ken Block Gymkhana series went live this morning and it is a great watch. The last one was kind of cheesy in our eyes but Block brought the high heat for this one. This film had some serious budget as there are helicopter shots, all kinds of cool camera work and it was shot on the streets of San Franscisco. Hell, they closed down a damned bridge and what seems to be half the roads in the city, both downtown and otherwise to make it.

You’ll see Block’s amazing car control on full display here as he jumps, slides, and skids his way around one of California’s most beautiful metro areas. There’s not a lot more to say on this other than, watch it! Oh, pay attention to the part that Travis Pastrana plays in it. The scene that he’s involved with is freaking amazing both on the levels of car control and all out danger. In fact, we’d hazard to guess that this was the most dangerous installment that Block has filmed yet. There are some high speed maneuvers in this one that could have resulted in serious carnage!

Press play and watch Ken Block light up the tires and the screen in Gymkhana 5!

“stunts and hooning performed by a professional driver on a closed course”

Personally, this stuff is getting boring. The first one was nice because it was different. To me this was a 9 minute yawn. Yes, he can drive but blow donuts all the time and keep bouncing the rev limiter?

    Meh……..

      Yup, boring, boring, boring.
Drifting the complete length of an off ramp, doing donuts between two moving tramways where there would barely be enough space to actually park the car, jumping the car sideways, passing the nose of the car while doing a burnout underneat the rear AND front tire of a moving motorcycle… yup totally boring.

The guy has AMAZING control of his car. I love each and everyone of his Gymkhana vids.

Go-Pro could have a contest where if you guessed the right number of cameras used for the Gym 5 you could win one.

Agreed. I think if you call this boring you might want to check your pulse to see if you’re still alive… 650 HP in a little car like that? Bored,no. Jeleaous, yep….

They managed to close the Bay Bridge which is a feat on any day. But after he did his stuff on the pier along the Embarcadero, he skipped all over the city. Just like the Bullitt chase scene. Lombard St and Twin Towers are miles apart.

That uphill drift into a sideways jump, which he landed and still made the turn was freekin amazing! If this was boring you’re dead. Best video yet. What will they do next?

Far from dead. This stuff isn’t my thing. It was interesting to watch but I stand by my first comment. If people like it, nice. If they don’t, no biggie. Can’t please everyone. Sponsor dollars and an idea makes things like this. It’s all good.
