(Words: Jon Bunger) Where we left off on the world’s nastiest muscle car, new friends and over-excited YouTubers from Scott’s Speed Shop and Mad Scientist Garage kicked about three generations of rats out of a 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass and pulled the engine in hopes of firing up a budget muscle car project. Armed with a mystery Craigslist engine, a spare transmission with failure written all over it, and a shop vac (which is owed an apology…and restitution for years of therapy. -Ed.), Jed and Jon set to figuring out if they could have a running, driving muscle car for a couple thousand bucks. The answer is, well… kind of.

Even though the car didn’t end up as safe, complete, or fast as we might’ve hoped, it’s still a really solid start to a budget muscle car that anybody could throw together a weekend at a time. With any luck you’ll see this pile of turds and Rock Auto parts terrorizing towns and racking up moving violations in real short order.
