Low And Slow: Check Out Slow-Motion Footage Of A Box Truck Against A Low-Clearance Obstacle!

It isn’t everyday that Average Joe is driving a box truck. Usually, it’s moving day, or it’s that rare, once-every-few-years need for a cube van or similar vehicle type that puts the typical human into one of these machines, and more often than not, once they come to terms with the fact that they are driving a giant box with the nose of a truck attached, the operation goes smoothly…unless you live in North Carolina or Massachusetts, where two well-known truck-eating low bridges are located. The 11’8″ bridge in Durham, North Carolina and the 10’6″ bridge in Weymouth, Massachusetts have racked up an impressive kill streak between the two, with the Durham bridge becoming famous after a guy aimed cameras at the railroad underpass to capture the moment stupidity overrode common sense (also known as the “moment of impact”.)

We’ve seen the stopped trucks and we’ve seen the YouTube videos of the incidents happening, but you don’t see what really happens to the truck in slow motion, high detail, and you don’t get a graphic look at what the bridge really did to the box section. That’s where the Slow Mo Guys come in…they’ve got cameras rigged up, three shipping containers rigged to simulate an eight-foot-six underpass, and two cube vans that look like your normal rental truck from any of the major renters. Roll the footage…and don’t forget to duck!
