As long as there is a breath left in your body, you should strive to enjoy everything that life has to offer. That’s just a fundamental truth, but you hear it all the time about how someone is too old for …whatever. Be it music, clothes, activities, at some point there is a societal mark that says, “At this age, you shouldn’t be doing this.” For the most part, we don’t agree with that at all. Look, nobody wants to see Grandpa in a Speedo out enjoying his day on a surfboard, but if Grandma wants to hop into a wicked-up Lamborghini Murcielago and hit the highway, why shouldn’t she? Not everybody gets to experience what makes an Italian supercar so lust-worthy, and for many there is an intimidation factor that goes along hand-in-hand with a car that can easily go over 200 miles an hour while shrieking like a stabbed demon. This is the kind of interaction car people and non-car folks need…positive, encouraging interaction that pins them to the seat and causes them to forget what language they speak.

Thinking back on my grandmothers, it kind of tells a tale of my family in general. My maternal grandmother would not have appreciated any kind of hooning like this. She was real old-school, pre-Great Depression material, and would freak out to unbelievable levels when she caught me with the rest of the neighborhood kids riding our Big Wheels down the hill in front of her house. My step-mother’s mother could care less about a car besides “does it start?” and “does it drive?”. On the other hand, my step-father’s mother rocked a Mercury Cougar XR7 for a while and my paternal grandmother was a known hot-shoe for years. So, yeah…I kind of come by it naturally.
