One Holey Mother: Freiburger Shows You Just How Bad He Killed The Bonneville Camaro’s Engine Back In 2013!

If you don’t subscribe to Motor Trend On Demand, then chances are pretty good that you aren’t seeing episodes of Roadkill Extra. Basically, it’s a day-by-day quick vlog of what’s going on within the sphere of Roadkill. Some days they’re just a behind-the-scenes deal, some days it’s filler, and unless you have their subscription, it’s pretty much moot anyways. But occasionally the guys feel a bit giving and post a random episode up onto YouTube, and luckily for us, their latest teaser is a gem.

Do you remember the Bonneville Camaro? During the early days of CarJunkieTV.com, DF and Chad took the 1981 Camaro out to the salt, grenaded the better part of the engine, and ended up running for a record in what we are pretty certain was the only V-twin-powered F-body in existence. (If you ever meet Chad in person, ask him about going through the timing traps ass-backwards and sliding…it’s an entertaining story!) In 2013, for a Roadkill episode, the Camaro was drug out of race car purgatory and Finnegan built up a big-block Chevrolet with a centrifugal supercharger, a blow-through carburetor, and nitrous in the hopes that they would take an easy record. Freiburger got one pass in that put him in the running for a record, but the next morning, a combination of upped boost and a lean mixture cleaned the motor’s clock for good. How good? Look at the hole in that piston, for starters…and that’s not all. Click play to see more of the damage!
