It has as much value as anyone else’s. Having been around during the days of the ’98” wheelbase cars, watching these things is boring. Lotsa cars go fast today. A Top Fueler ran in the 8″s when I started. They couldn’t qualify for a modern Pro Stock show. The old pro stocks ran in the 10’s, then 9’s. Both those old fuelers, and the old pro stocks, were more exciting to watch than their modern, much faster counterparts. There’s a whole lot of other people who think the same way.
        Sorry if I offended you.

Funny old thing that; I used to crew on a Pro Mod car in the UK back in the ’90s – first 6 second run in Europe, btw — and I was just thinking how entertaining a video this was and how the Altereds were more of a buzz to watch than the Pro Mod cars, despite the level of technology and the money involved in many of them. Just as you rightly point out, things have evolved. The Pro Mod cars of today are a hell of a long way removed from when I was involved 20 years ago, so…

The first comparison that came to mind is this is like old “floppers vs. rails”. The Pro Mods are mostly plastic bodies over tube chassis and the Fuel Alts are nitro burning long wheel base cars. And I am betting that in the 1/4 mile their times would be closer to what Funny Cars and Top Fuel cars of old used to run.
The only major difference seems that the Pro Mods run a lot more electronics than the Fuel Altereds.
