Satellite Launch, Part 7: Enjoying The Fruits Of All Of That Labor

Satellite Launch, Part 7: Enjoying The Fruits Of All Of That Labor

I’m genuinely jealous of Kevin and Luke’s summertime adventure. I was getting field updates as they worked. I was sent videos and pictures as things were going on. And with each video upload they’ve posted regarding the re-awakening of this 1970 Plymouth Sport Satellite, I smile a little more. All of that bullshit about young guns not being into cars anymore. All of that “can’t understand old technology” speak. All of it, taken to the top floor, shoved out of the window and left to shatter on the ground below. Back when I had Army dollars, Army sense, and the ability to take off for a week to do something, a project like this would’ve been awesome. Two friends, wrenching on a neglected car until the damn thing ran out of sheer will? Sign me right up. In fact, do that now.

Now that the Satellite build is over, one might think that’s the end of the story. One look at the Plymouth and even the most jaded enthusiast can see that there is titanic levels of rot to be dealt with, and I don’t care how well that 318 runs, sheer love for a forlorn B-body isn’t going to patch up panels that have the structural integrity of a Zesta cracker. And we really haven’t seen the floorboards yet, probably for good reason. So is this the end of the Satellite’s adventure? It’s not. I know details that aren’t public knowledge yet, but just trust me…waking up this beauty was just the start of it’s long adventure. You’ll see this car again.
