The Only Thing We Know About A Swincar Is That We Want One. Now.

It’s called the “Swincar.” It’s made in France by a company called Mecanroc, who constantly refer to the car as a “spider on wheels”. Ok, fine. It’s all electric and has a four-hour range, and every wheel has an independent motor and transmission assembly. Sweet, and well thought out. It’s also fairly compact and gives off a kind of go-kart vibe. But that’s really doing the Swincar a disservice. For starters…ARTICULATION! All the time! Each wheel is independent of the others, and the design allows the operator to lean into turns like a motorcycle rider. As a car, it isn’t much, but look at it as an off-road toy or a possible alternative to a motorized wheelchair and suddenly things start to make sense. Words fail here, so check out the accompanying video. They are prototypes now, but Mecanroc is hoping to start production this fall. Here’s hoping they send some our way…
