This View From Inside The 500 Mph Turbinator Streamliner Will Make You Long For Speed On The Salt At Bonneville.

Riding along inside a 500 mph machine, on land, is something only done by a couple of people on earth. It’s amazing to think about hauling that much ass. But this video will be totally impressive for a slightly different reason. When you watch this video, listen carefully to the engine revving and then watch the rate at which the markers go by. And then watch the blue line down the center of the track. Remember, when driving your car down the highway at 60 mph, you car covering one mile per minute. 120 means a mile every 3o seconds. At 480 you are covering a mile in just 7.5 seconds. 7.5!!! This is the true definition of hauling ass.

But what impresses me most in this video, because I’ve driven at speeds that normal people would think are fast on the salt at Bonneville, is just how straight this car stays going down the track. It is better in some spots than others, but still this is amazing. Dave Spangler has the ability to control a car like this, at this speed, in a way you don’t often see on the salt. Watch and let us know what we think.

Motorsports Hall of Famer Don Vesco knew he could go 500-600 mph in Team Vesco’s Turbinator, a streamlined wheel driven car built by brother Rick Vesco for Bonneville racing. Don had already achieved the fastest wheel driven world record in 2001 at a speed of 458.481 mph. Don’s dreams were cut short with his passing in 2002 but would eventually be fulfilled by Team Vesco driver Dave Spangler on October 2, 2018 with an astounding top speed of 503.332 mph!
