BangShifter Arild Guldbrandsen hails from Norway and he’s had the same 1976 Chevelle for going on 20 years now. Over the time he has had the car, Arild has installed any number of engine combos and performance parts. Currently the car is powered by a very healthy Chevy big block and as you will see in the video below Arild is a pretty damned good wheelman.

Not content to just haul the mail in straight lines, Arild has always worked on the car with turning corners in mind. As you may expect, most of the road course guys in Norway seem to favor Japanese and European cars so he’s on a mission to prove that classic American iron can also turn corners with the best of them. While this video doesn’t exactly show the quickest way around a corner, it does show that the car is tossable and Arild is super comfy behind the wheel. Oh, it also shows that the big block makes plenty enough toque to absolutely lay waste to the rear tires on the Chevelle.

The action is filmed at Arctic Circle Raceway, Arild’s home track. That name isn’t just window dressing. The place is literally on the edge of the Arctic Circle and it sits just 16 miles north of Arild’ town of Mo I Rana, Norway. It is a 2.33-mile road course and it is the most northerly located track in the world. At Arctic Circle Raceway, you’re literally closer to the top of the world than any other track on Earth. Despite that fact the track is only 660ft above sea level. It has been open since 1995. All of that stuff we just mentioned makes the place totally bad ass.
