If there was any doubt in your mind that rally racers were not the hardest core, do anything to survive mo-fos in racing, let this video erase that. Shot down in South America somewhere, what you will see is truly mind blowing. We used the old Google Translator to determine that the team featured in this video suffered a throttle cable failure. Rather than admit defeat somewhere in a God forsaken desert, the co-driver popped the hood, climbed in, and became the throttle operator. The driver is driving looking through the gap at the bottom of the hood so he can see where they are going. The best part? This isn’t some limp it home bull crap. This is fast, hauling ass racing. These guys are moving as they round the bend in the quick video and the throttle man seems to be pretty well anchored down under the hood.

We don’t know how the guys finished, but the point is that they finished! Lots of people like to throw the phrase, “Failure is not an option” out there but the fact is that these guys took it to heart and did whatever they had to in order to finish the race. Not only will they have one of the great racing stories to tell their buddies for the rest of their lives, thankfully someone with a camera phone was shooting video when they sped by so the whole thing can be backed up with evidence. I am pretty sure other videos have popped up with this type of thing but never with the car traveling at competition speeds. Can you imagine if they passed someone?! The initial shock would quickly be washed away by the torrent of shame you’d feel getting your ass handed to you by a car WITH A GROWN MAN CONTROLLING THE MOTOR FROM UNDER THE HOOD.
