Video: The Old CarJunkieTV Blown Big-Block Chevy

I’m sick as a dog today and am just sitting around surfing YouTube. I found this old video we did back the days of CarJunkieTV.com and realized that it shows us dyno testing the same blown 489ci Rat motor that David Freiburger just put in the Crusher Camaro (with my help) for the December 2009 issue of Hot Rod magazine.

In the video, Freiburger keeps whining about how the engine only made 650 hp. It also shows a problem with valve float. When we took the blower off of it a few months ago, we found out that the cam in it was not what we thought it was. In the video it says it’s a Crane flat-tappet, but it’s actually a Comp hydraulic roller. I think Freiburger found out it was a 230/236 or something like that, so now we know why the power is down and why this engine runs so easy. Still 650 hp and 650 lb/ft makes the Crusher a tire-smokin’ animal!

Did we change the valvesprings like we claimed? No! Did we put the engine in the ’65 Biscayne like we claimed? No! Anyway, here’s a flashback for you guys who remember CarJunkieTV, which folded up just a little over a year ago. It’s been a long year since then, but BS is bigger than CJTV ever was.
