When Driving A Bugatti EB110 GT Is Finally A Reality, It’s Like The First Time Behind The Wheel

A couple of years ago, Davide Cironi made a film that showcased the story behind the Bugatti EB110, a supercar that was a flash in the pan in the early 1990s. 139 EB110s left the Campogalliano factory before the money ran out, a consequence of Bugatti acquiring Lotus and trying to fund a sedan build at the same time. Their performance figures are still very stout, even twenty-seven years after the last one rolled off of the line. But what are they like to drive? Well, you can go through YouTube and find many videos, both contemporary and current, that will give you the typical car review. But we suggest that you watch this instead, and with good reason.

Think to the first time you drove a car, ever. You had this kind of expectation in your mind of what it would be, but you also had this great big unknown factor. You were about to cross a threshold between ignorance and bliss for the first time, and nothing you would drive after that would be as mesmerizing as the first time behind the wheel. But can that experience truly be recreated? Possibly…picture the dream car you’ve never been able to get close to. You’ve heard the stores, you’ve read the literature, and you now find yourself standing on the asphalt, with the machine facing you, with the keys in your hands.

Be sure to turn on the English captions before you play the video, unless you speak fluent Italian. Davide’s commentary isn’t just a straight review of the Bugatti…like all good Italian things, there is a great swath of emotion tied into the drive.
