When Worlds Collide: Magnus Walker And Sung Kang Trade Cars On Angeles Crest Highway!

When Worlds Collide: Magnus Walker And Sung Kang Trade Cars On Angeles Crest Highway!

Many, many personalities can be found if you learn to pierce through the throngs of people at SEMA. It’s not often who is at a booth, signing autographs and taking photos…it is the person that is moving within the crowd, the one that is studying what is out there that is someone special. Magnus Walker is one of those people. He is a to-the-bone Porsche enthusiast since childhood, but he isn’t a restoration fan or a motorsports-obsessed type. His Porsches aren’t likely to ever see Pebble Beach. Instead, you’re likely to see them tearing up a track day, or a curving mountain road. Walker doesn’t just take his Porsches out for a jaunty drive…he wails on them with abandon. He enjoys the rear-engines sports cars as they should be treated, and between the cars, the clothing line that he started shortly after moving to America from England, and the fame that came with the documentary Urban Outlaw, he has become an icon within the automotive world. But seeing him in the flesh, one thing that stood out to me was his powers of observation: Every time I saw him, his eyes were scanning, looking at the sheetmetal before him. You had to wonder what he saw in every ride he looked at.

On the other hand, Sung Kang is about as easy-going as they get. I got to meet Sung this year as some friends of mine were getting ready to shoot a feature on the “Project Underdog” Maverick that had debuted at this year’s show, and I’m glad to say that everything I heard about the man last year was true: friendly, accommodating, genuinely interested in what was going on, and without a doubt a legitimate gearhead…as if his jaw-dropping “FuguZ” Datsun didn’t prove to the world. You can make every Fast and Furious joke you want, but Kang is the real deal for a car guy: he gets a vision, he works to build that vision, and he shares that vision with everyone.

So what happens when these two get the chance to not only meet up, but to trade iconic cars? That’s what you have below: FuguZ and Walker’s “277” Porsche, traded, taking on the Angeles Crest Highway. Tachometers swinging, engines singing, curve-hugging good times. Click play below to check it out:

That Porsche engine note is awesome! I would spend all day just going up and down through the gears.
