Wreckage Videos: Some Flaming Wall Bangers From ADRL Rockingham – Major League Impacts!

While we were at the March Meet, some drag racing history was being made down in Rockingham, North Carolina. This was the first race of the new Kenny Nowling era of ADRL drag racing. By all accounts the track had a solid crowd and the racing was good. An inescapable fact with respect to big power, short wheelbase door slammer racing is that wrecks come and they sometimes come in batches. At Rockingham there were three major crashes. John DeCerbo, Shannon Jenkins, and Monty Grace all suffered carnage that will set them back big time in both time and money to repair.

Grace’s crash was the lowest speed incident but it was still punishing with the car center punching the wall and doing lots of visible damage. Jenkins’s incident was scary in the fact that the car clocked a low 4-second ET (in the eighth mile) on its door basically because rolling many times and coming to rest on the track. Jenkins is OK. DeCerbo’s was the most pyro-technically enhanced wreck of the group with the car hitting the wall hard face first and exploding the fuel and oil tanks. All three men are reported to be OK and that’s a testament to today’s safety standards!
