Watch An 815ci Ford Hemi Get Wrung Out On The Dyno – Mountain Motor Fun!

Watch An 815ci Ford Hemi Get Wrung Out On The Dyno – Mountain Motor Fun!

Mountain motor cars are some of the neatest to watch and talk about. Of course, it all centers around the goodness of the engine that is living in the car and the fact that with no help other than a pair of good carbs, they’ll produce prodigious horsepower and torque numbers. I was happily surprised to be one of the announcers on the deck when the first mountain motor pro stock run in the 6.20s was made and I have loved the cars ever since. It is cool to see them back in the IHRA fold for 2014.

But back to the thundering behemoth on the dyno stand. This is an 815ci Ford hemi that is either heading fro a drag racer or tractor puller if we had to guess. We’re always astounded by the amount of RPM they can turn despite the massive bore and stroke that has to be employed to get the ending to be this “large”. Not that 815 is anything to talk down to, but now with Sonny’s is selling a 1,000ci street engine along with several race configurations, it needs some more displacement! We need more of this large by huge Ford hemi stuff in our lives! We also need more of that green paper in our lives to get said 815ci hemi, but you know where we are heading with this.

Cool video . . . (How do you expect us to get any work done after seeing that?)

I’m no dyno expert, but is that SMOKE coming out of the dyno brake?

And couldn’t running that much exhaust directly into the dyno cell adversely affect calibration?
