(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – I’ve said before its hard to categorize cars into specific genres and this group is one of the hardest. You will notice over several of my articles I have featured the Straight-Axle Mafia cars. These guys share a love and interest for these kinds of cars and racing. They put on a pretty good show too. You can definitely see a domination by Falcons and Comets, but there’s plenty of other models that make the scene. I have never seen the Green rear-engine funny car run, but it’s got to be a wild ride. The Good Vibrations tudor is sporting a new, blown mill that should drop those ETs a good bit.

We also manged to meet up with a pair of cars we’d admired before and now have got to know their owners a bit. Steve Todd and Rick Rusk are old school car guys and their friendship goes back to their school days. Steve has the copper ’57 Jr Stocker and Rick has the tunnel-rammed, black and gold ’55 Gasser. We’re hoping for a photo shoot of them in the near future and perhaps bring some other stuff into the fold as well.

Enjoy these throwbacks to days past.
