(Photos by Bob Chiluk) – Bob Chiluk is one of our awesome photo contributors and he normally sends us stuff from the middle of the country. Recently he escaped to the west coast and submitted this fantastic gallery from the famous Desert Valley Auto Parts junkyard in Arizona. With more than 40 acres of American iron from the 50s through 70s (with a few 80s models in there as well) this place is amazing in scope and size. Bob reports that Rustbelt rodders everywhere would love to get their hands on much of the steel in this yard as compared to their normal starting point of a car that has been totally wracked by rust.

For those of you TV watchers, this place will look familiar. Desert Valley Auto Parts was chronicled on the Discovery Channel reality series, “Desert Car Kings” that ran in 2011. We are not sure if there are plans for a 2012 season. Maybe you western guys are so used to this level of junkyard quality that you don’t think twice about it, but for guys like us back here in salt-ville, it is jaw dropping to see thousands of cars that can be saved, sitting there ripe for the picking.

If you partied too hard watching the Super Bowl yesterday, grab a cup of coffee, close the office door and slowly check out nearly 150 awesome photos from what has to be one of the greatest classic car junkyards in the world!

Thanks to Bob Chiluk for the photos!
