(Photos by Dom Damato- DRD Photos) – We told you that we were going to bring you Detroit Autorama coverage from a bunch of BangShift contributors, so here’s our second collection of photos that center around the most BangShift approved iron at the event. Cobo Hall was absolutely packed to the rafters with killer stuff than ranged from traditional hot rods to nostalgia funny cars, wild trucks, muscle cars, and the collection of uber rods all vying for the famed Ridler Award. As it turned out, the winner was the “Checkered Past” 1940 Ford. This car is an absolutely incredible piece that was years in the making and is constructed of almost entirely hand made one off parts. Amazingly, two BangShifters were involved in the final tweaking of the car’s engine and those guys were Nick Smithberg and Scott Clark. Those same two dudes were on the Engine Masters team that brought the thunder with an ancient Hemi at the 2011 and 2012 events. Although their contributions came at the end of the car’s build, they were important and we’re honored to say we now know two guys who have wrenched on a Ridler winner! Meanwhile, Chad and I are picking our noses over here in the corner.<\/p>\n
Dom Damato whose work we normally showcase from drag strips around the country was at the show and he sent us a dispatch of photos that he took. We grabbed 40 shots of the most BS approved stuff he saw and put them in the gallery below. Make sure you check both links because the second link has ALL of Dom’s photos and as you’ll see the dude has an awesome eye.<\/p>\n
