(Photos by Ryan Severance) –\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>One of the most interesting things to consider when looking at Chrysler performance cars is how wildly their looks have changed over the years. Maybe more so than any other automaker, the Chrysler corporation design language has really switched up over the decades. Performance offerings in the 1960s were large and in some ways restrained. When you look at a Road Runner or a GTX you don’t see wild styling but you do when you see a Superbird or a Charger Daytona. In the 1970s it was (like everyone else) stickers and glue on stuff. In the 1980s it was small cars and small pickup trucks that filled the performance void for the brand and in the 1990s the Viper came to prominence and things started to morph rapidly into what we see from the company today in Hellcats, Chargers, and 300s.<\/p>\n

This collection of photos has something from all those generations in it and some cars that while not being performance minded are certainly good examples of their breed. The restorations are cool, maybe not as cool to us as the modified stuff but they show off the bones of where those hot rods started life. Here’s an interesting gallery featuring Chrysler performance cars through virtually every decade of their existence.<\/p>\n
