(Words and photos by Charles Wickam) So it was kind of a funny story on how we ended up at the Leander, TX car show. On\u00a0Sunday\u00a0morning after Day of The Drags Scott Brown, myself and two of scotts friends headed out for a early morning cruise to go grab breakfast. One of the guys was driving an ancient Model A. Well exiting the freeway and coasting up to the stop light the life in the old Model A’s engine also exited amd after a few short minutes we came to the conclusion that it was terminal and parked the car in the parking lot of the 7-11 that it broke down in front of. Rick (the Model A owner) said, Screw it, lets go have breakfast anyway,” and after some great food we gave Rick a ride back to his house to pick up a truck and trailer to retrieve his car. Scott and I follow him back to the car to help load it up and during this time Scott gets a text about a show just north of where we were and that we should come check it out<\/p>\n

\u00a0We jumped on the tollway in Scotts turbo-LS powered 53 Chevy Bel-Air and made the 14 mile drive in an amount of time that was less than what GPS told us it would be. Computers lie! We all know that!<\/div>\n

Upon arriving in the blocked area (roughly 2 blocks) there were cars of all kinds from, late model Italian sports cars, German autobahn cruisers, and Jeeps. The show has something for everyone plus its loaded with all kinds of Americas favorites – MUSCLE CARS !<\/div>\n

The great thing about this show is that its put on by … wait for it … The Leander Police Dept ! GASP! Yes the local PD organizes this monthly show that’s put on the first Sunday\u00a0of the month and is in its 4th year. They reach out to all car clubs in the Austin area and invite them out to to promote a unity with the local police. They must be doing something right for as long as the shows been going there are no signs of slowing down, so if you’re in the area of Leander on the first Sunday\u00a0of the month, be sure to add this to your must hit list and the great thing about it it ends round\u00a012:00\u00a0so you have the rest of the day to finish up that honey do list that you’ve been putting off.<\/div>\n
