(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) –\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Parkette Drive-in was established in the early 50s in Lexington, Kentucky and is still in the same location.\u00a0 Its iconic sign was placed a few years later and continues to be a landmark on the inside beltway of the city some 60 years later.\u00a0 The place has been featured on \u2018Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives\u2019 and was recently named the top drive-in\/diner\/dive in Kentucky for 2016.\u00a0 We used to hang out there before the renovation that took place about a decade ago and haven\u2019t been back for a cruise in years.<\/p>\n

We showed up late, but that was because there\u2019d been a pretty heavy rain pass through and we chose to wait till things were clear before heading out.\u00a0 We only managed to photograph about a third of the cars present as we chose to shoot some pics then get some tasty grub.\u00a0 Cars moved in and out as we dined in the \u2018garage\u2019 \u2013 a patio-type dining area with multiple garage doors\u00a0 on three sides that open things up a good bit.\u00a0 We weren\u2019t fast enough to catch a bunch of the cars that came through, but what we did capture looked pretty good.\u00a0 We will definitely make the trip to this cruise again.<\/p>\n
