(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – The Southern Knights of Central Kentucky is a car club that puts on a huge yearly show at Boonesborough State park, but they also have monthly events during the cruise season. This year they have changed things up a bit and the event is being hosted at the local Wal-Mart parking lot. May not seem like a big deal to some, but this change of venue could see the event grow to new heights. Despite the advertised time slot being incorrect, the cruise was well-attended with plenty of cars coming and going through the time we were there. We got our own car out for the first time this year and managed to photograph about half the cars that made the scene. We’ll be keeping an eye on this event to see if it becomes something we’ll attend on a regular basis.

Apologies for some lackluster photographs as the sun was harsh and shadows long. In looking for good light angles my attempts at a good shot would sometimes be thwarted by people standing in the way, chairs, or something else. I try to be unobtrusive when photographing stuff. There are always some folks who are more than accommodating and will close doors, close the hood, stop while tooling by, or step out of the frame. It was a fun event and my son poured over a more-door ’60 and spoke to its owner for over half an hour. That boy likes his boats.
