One of the most anticipated parts of the 2014 Grand National roadster show has been the exhibit called, “Bonneville A Century Of Speed” and by all accounts it lived up to the hype. The exhibit as put together by prolific Bonneville racer Ron Main and it highlights some of the coolest, fastest, oddest, and neatest vehicles in the 100 year history of competition on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Frankly the only thing better than being AT Bonneville in 2014 would be to see this exhibit at the 2014 Grand National Roadster Show. We realize that many of you have your private jets down for their yearly winter maintenance, so a quick trip to California is out of the question. Knowing that, we hit the show like our hair was on fire and blasted this gallery of nothing but the Bonneville exhibit.

Because competition on the salt flats is largely a personal endeavor, the cars are all unique. The shapes, designs, and philosophies behind each car are largely proprietary to the owner and that means that there’s not such thing as a “boring” Bonneville car. As you will see in this gallery cookie cutters need not apply on the salt. Some of the cars you’ll see in this exhibit are famous for being ahead of their time. Some are famous for being beautiful, and more are famous for hauling bucket loads of ass.

Every man’s vision of how to go fast is different than that of the man standing next to him. This collection of cars as assembled by Ron Main certainly typifies that idea. Revel in the greatness contained in these photos. There’s lots of it to take in.
