(Words and Photos by Michael Brooks) — Last weekend I had the chance to escape the extreme cold here is western New York and seek refuge in the extreme cold of Pittsburgh, Pa. I guess the 3 hour drive south didn’t change much. Oh well, the indoor car show season is a decent remedy for cabin fever. Anyway, I spent the afternoon at the David L. Lawrence convention center for the 53rd annual Pittsburgh world of wheels show.

The show featured a decent mix of traditional rods, billet cars, and muscle cars. Some cool trucks and bikes were mixed in too. The highlight for me was the chance to meet Jeff Lutz and check out both bad ass 1957 Chevys he had on display . His sons 434ci twin turbo Honda Civic was there too. He took the time to tell me all about his new glass/composite 57 that is a twin to the Drag Week car except for the fact that it weighs 1100 lbs less. (Editor’s note: Jeff cars are both bad ass but the new one is a thing of beauty. It is a good thing that he built it because rumors abound about a number of builds underway right now that are aiming for Unlimited and are focused on reducing weight. Jeff did a masterful job of “cloning” the old car.”)

Mike did a great job blasting photos and he took so many that we’ve busted them up into a pair of galleries. Here’s the first one. We’ll run the second group of photos tomorrow. Hit the link below and enjoy the first half of this tour of the 53rd Pittsburgh World of Wheels car show!
