That’s right, the 2017 J&A Service Pro Mod series is officially underway and it all got started in fine style at the 2017\u00a0NHRA Gatornationals. Just as the class has done every year in its history with NHRA, the fast door slammers wowed the crowds at Gainesville. There were a million stories coming into this race. Larry Morgan is racing in the category this year but he had a testing incident and could not compete at Gainesville. Billy Glidden was supposed to be in Gainesville but he too had a testing incident and could not make it. Blower cars got 5.5% more overdrive, nitrous cars lost 25lbs, and Stevie Fast was going to make his debut. This was big time stuff and the cars delivered.<\/p>\n

The quickest qualified field in the history of the class, lead by Steve Jackson charged into eliminations and then the real fun began. When the dust settled, Eric Latino had run an incredible 5.72-second elapsed time at a blazing 256mph (in a blown car!) to set a new national record while losing on a hole shot. Event winner Steven Whitely drove a fantastic race and rode an amazing horse to get him into the winner’s circle.<\/p>\n

In 2017 the J&A Service Pro Mod Series expands to 12-races from the previous 10 race season that had been the industry standard for years. As in years past the class has its own TV show on Fox Sports and said show will be so-hosted by our own Brian Lohnes. Check your local listings for information.<\/p>\n
