(Words and\u00a0photos by Doug Gregory) –\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>We\u2019d always been told the Pumpkin Run was large and that we \u2018had\u2019 to go.\u00a0 This event is held at the Clermont County Fairgrounds in Owensville, OH.\u00a0 For those not familiar\u2026it\u2019s just a tiny bit East of Cincinnati.\u00a0 There was always something keeping us from going until this year.\u00a0 We made the mistake of only attending on Saturday.\u00a0 This is not nearly enough time to get a good look at what this event has to offer.<\/p>\n

In this article we cover the swap meet, which due to where we parked, was the first thing we encountered.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t go into the swap meet with anything specific in mind.\u00a0 I did want to find some 15×8 6-lug Chevy rally wheels for my truck, but that was about it.\u00a0 My son did find me a set that appeared straight.\u00a0 The vendors didn\u2019t want to pack them back up so they shot me a price that forced me to buy them.<\/p>\n

This swap meet has more traditional car parts than anything else.\u00a0 Yes memorabilia is there and some new part vendors are around, but this is a haven for everything from Model A grille shells and frames to 70s muscle car hop-up parts.\u00a0 My son managed to snag some very early Hedman Hedders that we\u2019re still trying to nail down an actual year of manufacture.\u00a0 They are like an early block hugger style and may be as early as \u201958 or \u201959.\u00a0 They are stout pieces, well-built, and still very solid.\u00a0 Apparently these things were all hand-built.\u00a0 We found a couple articles about how they were built.\u00a0 Pretty cool stuff, but enough about that\u2026<\/p>\n

The swap meet area is easily at least the size of a couple football fields and the photos will show in some areas it\u2019s pretty crowded.<\/p>\n

A few highlights:<\/p>\n

We thought the Bradley GT was yard art.\u00a0 Wrong.\u00a0 You\u2019ll see a photo in a later gallery of it cruising the grounds.\u00a0 Cool.<\/p>\n

A lace painted Boss 429 hood scoop.\u00a0 If I had the spare cash it\u2019d be on my shop wall.<\/p>\n

371 Olds, recently rebuilt and sporting vintage speed parts.<\/p>\n

The flat-fender Jeep-looking thing\u2026\u00a0 Homemade.\u00a0 Plywood.\u00a0 Chain driven.\u00a0 Was running all over the place and looks like a blast to drive and way better than your average golf cart.<\/p>\n

We didn\u2019t cover more than around a third of the swap meet so there\u2019s way more that we\u2019ll have to wait till next year to capture.<\/p>\n
