(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) –The ALS Cruising for a Cure is held in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and this series will cover the 3rdannual event held May 5th. This charity event is the brainchild of Logan Lawrence to honor the memory of his grandfather he lost to ALS. It takes an awful lot of cooperation from the local community and volunteers to make this event as good as it is. This year 448 cars, trucks, and motorcycles registered and parked in the historic downtown district along the banks of the Ohio River. Kayle Knight traveled the furthest coming all the way from Simsbury, CT. After the awards were presented, the streets were emptied, and cleanup was completed they tallied up what would be presented to the Indiana chapter of the ALS Association. Just a little over $24,000.00 was raised. That’s impressive by anyone’s standards and it seems all the more impressive to me that it was organized by a college freshman and staffed by a horde of volunteers (which included a bunch of high school kids that gave up a beautiful Saturday to help out).

This first collection of photos is a bit Mopar-heavy and nearly Chevy-free. I really can’t explain my selections for this gallery. It just is.

The Mini looks like a blast to drive with a late-model V6 pushing the British compact along with horsepower many times that of the original. There’s three examples of the Oldsmobile Cutlass in here too. One Hurst, one S-model, and a Pro Streeter.

Plenty of fine Mopars in here, but my pick would be the orange Super Bee with the period stance and slots. The light blue Valiant would be my second choice, but all of them were very nice. Hey we even snuck a Jeep, an AMC, VW, and a Buick in here. Throw in the bikes and dirt cars and there is quite of bit of variety to be found. I’m trying to keep things interesting.

Enjoy.
