(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – I got to the Rod Run at what I thought was early enough to get a good parking spot. This was not to be as downtown was already pretty full and cars kept coming in all day. It’s okay because I was in the new commuter and people looked at it funny when I pulled in.

These photos are not organized into any make, model, or era grouping. I’m still on my meds so I don’t understand my deviation into anarchy, but we’ll roll with it. I will continue my previous format of mentioning a few of the rides in each collection. Trying to touch on every one would prove tedious for me and for the majority of the readers.

Steve Blades is well-known in Tri-5 Chevy circles and has built plenty of stunning rides over the years. I had followed his build of this ’57 9-passenger wagon and was eager to see the completed piece in person. This thing is a work of art nearly anyone can appreciate. It’s an awesome short bus.

This red Mercury Cabriolet really stood out and demanded attention so I actually ended up taking several photos of it as I made laps around the town. This was the least cluttered and best lighted image. The wide whites and red steelies along with great stance sets this thing off right.

The gold-colored, 326-motivated Pontiac Tempest is a not-so-common treat as many owners will make alterations to emulate a GTO. To me this trim level is just as appealing.

White steelies, poverty caps, and a rough idle certainly allowed the plain vanilla Plymouth to catch my attention while I was meandering towards an intersection. I’m glad I got it as it passed because I never did find it parked.

Kentucky Krawlers are an active off-roading club based in central Kentucky. It seems some of them got up before sunrise enabling them to snag this coveted spot under the Walking Dead mural. Well played.

We’ve only just started our coverage of this growing event so check back for more.
