(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – This is one of few events I’ve attended without any of my boys accompanying me. Unfortunately this is a trend that is progressing to the point I’ve had to just state ‘I’m going’ and if anyone wants to participate they can, but I’m not going to be deterred if I end up going alone. I did just that a few weeks after the Rod Run and though I was not happy when I left the day turned out great. We get used to how things are with our kids, but they change and we’ve got to cope. We don’t have to like it though. How dare they grow up without permission…

I believe nearly every photo in this collection was taken in or near just one parking lot. I guarantee I took more photos from this lot and they’ll be scattered throughout as I returned to our vehicle for water, batteries, etc. You will no doubt notice the C10 with the turbo LS swap. I never heard it run, but it appears to be a fun ride. Challenger Scat Packs are very popular in Central Kentucky and many made their way to Cynthiana including the three found here.

Corvettes are really popular in Kentucky as well (duh) and in this lot alone there were these two silver C4s, two silver C3s, a red C4 (on ralleys), 2 C1s, a C2, and two more C3s (some of these are in the next gallery). I want to draw your attention to the satin black GMC with purple, pinstripe flames. The stance on this thing caught my eye from a distance and the more I looked at it the more I liked what I saw. As a cruiser this thing has to be awesome with a reliable LS swap, AC, and it has the killer GMC grille going for it. In the past I’ve owned a few El Caminos and this red and white ’68 is just the kind of clean ride I wouldn’t mind having in my garage. Sadly…there’s no room and no funds and it’s not allowed. My wife refers to them as the identity crisis of the automotive world and therefore unworthy of ownership. I don’t know about that and always thought they were a great mix of muscle car and light truck. Oh well.

Lots more to come. No I didn’t take a photo of all 2,000+ cars, but I tried.
