(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – <\/strong><\/em>Square-bodies, Mopars, and really big trucks.\u00a0 See what happens when you move in closer to the city\u2019s center.\u00a0 This is getting into the premium spots to get your car noticed and snagging one of these will require an earlier start than I managed.\u00a0 If you can score a spot nearer to the courthouse odds are nearly everyone in attendance is going to pass by at some point during the day.\u00a0 This event has grown so much and as the day progressed more and more arrive until most or all of the allotted space is exhausted.\u00a0 Not a bad problem to have considering this is likely one of the largest one-day events drawing tourists in this area.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the two TBSS (TrailBlazer SS), our tour turns at the end of the block and heads towards the firehouse.\u00a0 The main food vendor area was just this side of it.\u00a0 We do a 180 and pass into at least two blocks of heavy rigs that will continue into the next gallery.<\/p>\n

For the Mopar folks we pass by Road Runners, \u2018Cudas, and Challengers, both young and old.\u00a0 The real-estate hog award goes to the black Lincoln Continental Mark IV.\u00a0 That thing must be like driving a bus.<\/p>\n

Let me draw your attention to the white, straight-axle Fairlane.\u00a0 It sits high, but not too high.\u00a0 It\u2019s got some Thunderbolt styling, but not too much.\u00a0 It\u2019s Ford-powered which is not as common in straight-axle cars.\u00a0 This is one clean ride that appears to be a solid driver.<\/p>\n

Now crossing the street in the opposite direction we are greeted by a purple and grey GMC General hauling an old Pete pulling truck.\u00a0 It\u2019d been nice to hear that start up with the sound reflecting against the buildings.\u00a0 This gorgeous old Mack appeared more cruiser than worker, but I am fairly certain most of these still put in some labor even if it is just for fun.<\/p>\n
