(Words and Photos by Jim Hrody) At the end of July, Sycamore, Illlinois is the gathering spot for the Turning Back Time Car Show. The town is part of the extended Chicago Area, about 50 miles west, and was first settled in the 1830s.

You may have heard of Sycamore before, as it’s the home turf of AutoMeter Products and its namesake was also borrowed for the clay track just outside of town, Sycamore Speedway.

This event draws around 1000 roadgoing vehicles of all types, and they shut down a busy state route for it.

Strewn up and down Route 64, on the side streets, and in almost every business parking lot are piles of everything— street rods, muscle cars, classics, pickups, lowriders, big rigs, 4x4s, tuners, cycles, race cars and I even found a single boat.

The Turning Back Time car show is a great excuse for any gearhead to get in some walking, lots of it.

Enjoy the photos below and don’t forget that clicking on any of them makes them larger and lets you scroll through the entire gallery.
