(Words and Photos by Dan Grippo) After attending the NMRA Ford Homecoming, it is safe to say that if this whole drag racing thing doesn’t work out for them, the folks at ProMedia have a future in party planning. Along with the normal high revin’, tire-hanging action you find at all NMRA events, this year’s Norwalk event was chock full of special features to get your blue oval juices flowing. With ’23 marking several notable Ford anniversaries, the NMRA set out to mark each one with special reunion areas for each. Starting with the Tasca Parts 55th Cobra Jet Reunion, invited guest Brent Hajek displayed both the ’68 and ’09 WinterNationals winning Cobra Jets of Al Joniec and John Calvert, who were also in attendance. Special Cobra Jet car show classes showcased all the Ford CJ offerings, and the Watson Cobra Jet Shootout let owners flex these cars on track. Next up was the 40th Saleen Reunion, where the man himself was on hand signing dashes and posters, surrounded by 40 years of his handy work. From race cars, fox bodies, Rangers, and even Explorers, every Steve Saleen project was represented. This year also marks 30 years of Ford/SVT, Cobras, and Lightning from all years were on display to bring back your teenage dreams. And what would an NMRA event be without Fox Bodies? The Fox Body Reunion, covered all tastes, fully modified, survivors, restored, and even one with a Barra motor in it! And as if this all was not enough, the NMRA itself is celebrating 25 years of outstanding events with a display of Pro 5.0 cars from their early beginnings. Mustangs of Racin’ Jason, Joe DaSilva, and Wild Bill DeVine to name a few were on hand as well as a bevy of past NMRA racers and former champions recounting the “old” days. With each night being capped off with multiple pit parties for all in attendance, as aforementioned, the ProMedia gang knows how to throw down! The NMRA Homecoming had it all, racing, car show, autocross, and Big Foot!

Enjoy the following galleries…

CLICK HERE IF YOU MISSED ANY OF OUR PREVIOUS PHOTOS
