    CJTV Cruise/Open House/Drag day a success!

Man, what a week. Our crew spent a solid week moving cars, renting equipment, setting up lights, cleaning the shop, and generally thrashing to get ready. It was all worth it.

The cruise at Bob's Big-Boy was bigger than usual, with the lot being packed on Friday by 4 and it was still hopin' when we left at 10. We spoke to Tim Allen, Ken Sink from Milodon, Chris Campbell from Hot Rod, Miles Cook from Mustang Monthly (with his new Vette), Harley eaditor Frank Kaisler, the Wheeler family who does the SCTA trophies, and a bunch more locals. About 10 CJTV cars were there.

We expected our open house to open at noon, but guys were rolling in by 9 and the place was mobbed by noon. It looks like we had about 275 people and 100 cars. At one point we had five former Hot Rod editors on site: Len Emmanuelson, Pat Ganahl, Jeff Smith, Drew Hardin, and me. We also saw Henry D from Chevy High Performance, Doug Glad from Car Craft, Ben Stewart from Popular Mechanics, Scott Oldham from Edmunds.com, and Jason Sands from Diesel Power. There were reps from Vortech, Mopar Performance, Edelbrock, Toyo Tires, SCTA, and SEMA, plus two big PR agencies. Dave McClelland was there for a while. I'm sure I'm forgetting many more.

Huge thanks to Shaun Callaway, Chucks73, and Paul Whalen for tackling the grill. We also had lots and lots of help from Chad's folks Walt and Judy, from Mary Whalen, and from Keith and Tonya Turk. The SilverBuick came in a day early and swept our entire shop! Our Production Coordinator Whitney Provost worked overtime, as did her sister Cameron and brother-in-law Chris (who also made all the t-shirts). Scott Clark tuned some cars, and he, Bill Fowler, and a bunch of other guys installed the new signs on our shop. Those were done by Paul at Anarchy Graphics, who also painted our van on site and added graphics to our cool shop desk. Skratch came in and pinstriped our shop fridge for us.

I apologize if I'm forgetting anyone else who helped.

On sunday, we had just three cars follow us up to Famaso Raceway for the drag day, but it went off well. See the Project Car section for updates on the F-Bomb.

Thanks again to everyone who helped and for everyone who showed up to make the fist-ever CarJunkieTV.com event a big success! Watch for the video after we launch.

Congratulations to David, Chad and all the CJTV crew. The event was a blast. it was amazing to meet all the legendary hot rod industry folks and hang out with all of the cool people and their amazing rides. I've never seen such a collection of talent in one place before. Must be a sign of all the coll stuff yet to come.

I hope you guys get the Starsky & Hutch video up soon its a hoot.

I can't believe there was beer left over. Won't let that happen again.

Thanks for letting us come and hang.

Glad to see those 5 words. I'll probably never stop saying it, but I'm sorry I missed it.
I know after all the hard work and the risk you took jumping into this thing it must really please you to see not only Junkies, but Junkies with jobs in the industry stopping by and taking notice.
Congratulations to all who helped put the party and the site together. Still can't wait to see what's coming next month.
Best of luck in the future and I'll see you at the 2nd Annual CJTV Open House!

        So, when's the next event?!...
I had a great time, and my gal, who is not exactly a car-girl, had a great time too.
I have some great pics, (that I'll post later, as I'm supposed to be working right now)

Thanks for great food, and a better time!

          Re: CJTV Cruise/Open House/Drag day a success!

Hey DF and Chad, thanks again for your time and patience answering all my questions.

I wish I could've gone with you guys on Sunday. I really had no interest in paying 80 bucks to race my worn out Caprice, especially since it's my only running car at the moment. I did plan on going if only to be a service/ storage unit on wheels for those who wanted to race. Maybe even offering my skills as a crew member. Alas, my health was kicking me pretty hard Saturday nite and into Sunday morning. I wasn't able to get to sleep until around 5 am Sunday. I did a pretty good job of ignoring the pain most of Saturday, but it caught up with me that night. Good news, I was able to watch the Daytona 500 on Sunday while I recuperated.

          Thanks again.

edit: This show didn't feel like any show I've ever been to. It was more like just of bunch of buddies getting together for a BBQ, beer, and gabbing about cars. Tons of great cars there as well. More shows should be like this.

Wish I could have been there. Maybe next year....

Let me add to what others have said - thanks to David and Chad for doing this. There aren't many in the world who would have a chance at pulling this off, and I don't doubt that you two will make it work. Didja notice that Keith and Tonya are always "there".

Hope to see as many as possible at Maxton in April (and throughout the race season). And remember, contact me thru the website <ECTA-LSR.com> if you would like to volunteer.

I'm just gonna toss this out there...

Thanks for the food and brew... I know that had to cost a bit..

But it was such an extradinary time, that I'm thinking.. how about a monthly or bi-monthly event, and we'll bring our own meat??!... BYOB?...

                ...I'm just sayin'... ;)

I had a blast helping out. Any excuse to hang out in warm So Cal. I put a starter on my Power Stroke today, outside, laying in ice and snow at 20 degrees!!

Sounds like a blast and too bad I couldn't make it.

Looks like it was a blast, wish I could be there, alas had other plans involving a pain-in-my-ass truck...and that whole distance issue. :D I will have to make it down there, would be heaven.

I also wanted to put up another thank you from DF and I. Chris Jarczewski from StarFighter Motorsports/VP Race Fuels was on hand helping all day Saturday and was one of the masterminds behind the sign mounting on the building. Thanks a lot for everything. Chris has already pledged his support for future testing and projects here at CarJunkieTV.com and for that we thank him as well.

Uncle Chris!! (even though he's no one's uncle)

Can't say enough good about him. When we were dyno tuning at Spectre, he'd bring us over ANY fuel we needed for testing. He's also the "racegas guy" at the Ontario track. Great dude!
