Maybe crudded up at the under carb exhaust cross over?
Got enough crud to push the pushrod sideways and keeping it from rotating??
Might be able to see if it is skewered by removing valve cover.. Rocker will be skewered too..

I seriously doubt it. The engine has less than 10k on it. What concerns me is that there isnt any more valve train noise. When the two lifters collapsed, lots of clatter. Rocker comes loose, lots of clatter. I wonder if another rocker broke or a bent pushrod. I hope the cam isnt suddenly going flat.

More like user error. I pulled the terminal off the #1 spark plug wire when checking a few plugs for lean/rich. Apparently, I didn't fix it correctly. The #1 plug is soaked in gasoline. So, obviously I didn't fix it so ignition made it to the plug.

Cross your fingers this is the only issue.

Looks like the fouled plug was a result of something else. The pictures below will tell the story. I will call the sales rep from Speedway whom I talked to last year about this as this is the second one that failed with no racing and hardly any mileage, less than 2000 miles on the car.

That's a bummer. Does the cam have too much lift or possibly an issue with the springs? Push rods the wrong length? Seems odd to break that with just normal driving.

It looks like the slot is plenty long. The Comp rockers like that are cast steel.

I wanted to buy a set for the derby motor, my son says " No.. They are problematic.."
Seems friends of his had problems with them..

Talked to Speedway. They don't carry them anymore and my set is out of warranty. Gee, I wonder why they don't carry them anymore.

They claim they are made from heat treated 4340 steel. I'm not metallurgist, but they don't look it to me.

why aren't the retainers centered on the springs?

and that sucks with the lifters - I think I'll be changing mine because of your issues with those.
