I had an '84 Blazer and the windows were slow but always worked. Do you drive your pickup enough for this to be a problem? If your Hummer is a rescue rig, how much are you going to use this? DD?

switch and contacts are both new....Originally posted by JOES66FURY View Postis it both or just one? I would hot wire the motor to see if it speeds up, that will tell you right now if the motor is worn or there is a power supply problem. My 2 cents...
try to bypass the switch and see if maybe the switch is the culprit....Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

the window stopped working when it was 20* here (and mostly down).... but they stop at about 3/4 of the way down and won't go without help - in all other positions they're slow.... it really does seem like they're not getting enough power - given that I can run a welder off the inverter, I know the charging system (give or take a volt) is up to snuff.Originally posted by OldMachinist View PostI had an '84 Blazer and the windows were slow but always worked. okay, and I admit it - I'm addicted to cars.... does that mean I have to go to meetings? "Hi, I don't even have a real name, I'm SuperBuickGuy, and I have a problem with cars"
I actually have 3 rescue rigs.... a H3, a pickup and a bmwLast edited by SuperBuickGuy; January 7, 2013, 02:45 PM.Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

I don't think you'll get much help without telling them if it's electrical or mechanical and what kind of problem you are having. For what it's worth, if you can't fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem.Originally posted by SuperBuickGuy View Post...

While I admit my problem with cars, I'm not ready or willing to change.... so there will be no steps here

how hard is it to make them manual crank up windows?
The guy that just bought my nephews truck (finally) stated that one of the reasons he wanted it was because
"it doesn't have all that power crap or 4x4 that I don't need or want"
I'm just happy to have the money than the truck - what's that saying? It's easier to store dollars than vehicles... something like that.
it would be a shame to see you give up on this beast with all you've put into it.
and
it would be as hame to see you beat the crap out of your H3 that's supposed to be your daily driver...
focus!

There may be a plan to put 40s under the diesel and make it my winter rescue rig (as opposed to a spring, fall or summer rescue rig - which there are plans for those to come into being as well)
.... oh yeah, and seat heaters, navigation and a good dvd combo for those exciting missions where I'm sitting on a hilltop being radio relay.
the DD is supposed to be the Corvette.... which, should it chose to stop snowing/raining sideways, is going to happenDoing it all wrong since 1966Comment

Hey, SBG, how do the undersides/insides of the fenders look? I ask b/c you live in a wet climate, and so do I...
My '74 is an AZ truck, but it is showing initial signs of tin worms in certain areas... my plan is diaper-load of Rust-O-leum on the underside, inside of fenders, frame etc... and some of it will simply get sliced off to fit tires.

mine are solid. They don't use salt on the roads here, and we don't have sun to bake the paint off.Originally posted by Caveman Tony View PostHey, SBG, how do the undersides/insides of the fenders look? I ask b/c you live in a wet climate, and so do I...

They will rust out if they leak from the windows because water will never dry out and eventually will hit bare metal.
The only issue my truck had was water got trapped under the front window seal and rusted it out at the drain holes. A bit of mig plus everdure filler and it's fixed (on yeah, and copious amounts of window glue - the type they use to glue windows in place).Doing it all wrong since 1966Comment

SO - did new wiring fix it?
what's the amp draw?
is the old fusebox the problem?
I got a jensen touchscreen radio from crutchfield that plays dvds on screen, and came with a backup camera - for $275.
Plus all the standard, cd/mp3/ipod input/usb input etc.
wire the parking brake "nanny switch" wire to ground - play dvds while driving
wire the "reverse light switch" wire to a toggle switch - turn on camera whenever you want.
This is a double DIN size radio - not sure where you'd fit it in a single DIN dash - but it would look right at home in a stainless console under the dash. Put the boost and trans oil temp gauges in another stainless panel where the factory radio was. There's always something new to learn.Comment

That radio is interesting, but for the BMW
I have a portable DVD player that runs off the cig lighter
