Hey Beagle, I'm getting larger wheels larger for better gripping tires. Yes, modern wheel designs dont always look right on a older car, especially designs where he center spoked section is at the outer edge of the wheel. They need to have a dish of some sort. Also, most classic style wheels stretched to modern wheel sizes often look weird and out of proportion. Thats the problem. There are so many companies out there that Ive never heard of or seen. Thats main reason I posed this question. To find companies and wheel styles I havent thouht of or seen. Here in LA, tire and wheel shops have been catering to either the euro crowd, the ricers, or the donks depending on what neighborhood your standing in. So, I am asking people outside the area for suggestions.
And, Brian is absolutely right about wheels being a personal taste. Doesnt mean I wont find someone with the same tastes as me.

Well said Scott, and what a tough choice! I know what your going for, but have no recomendations LOL.
wheels that look good on pony cars do not necessarily look correct on big cars.
I can't wait to see what you choose.
Going back to the "wheels are a personal thing" conversation, I would not let my worst enemy put the top design on anything....Prius drivers included.
x2
that top wheel was the ugliest wheel i have seen in a long time, the 10th anniv. wheels arent much better, ive always thought they looked like some cheap wheels a kid with a civic would buy in 18's and put on his stock civic with euro taillights and subs in the trunk

Well said. If this was FB, I would have just hit the like button.
I typed 17" chrome rally wheels into a search engine and learned that wheel vintiques makes some of their popular steel wheels in 17" sizes now... though I didn't scroll through their entire pdf catalog to see which ones.
Also, I think I saw on t hat JDwheels website, the same wheels you now have - in 17" ... or do they look weird after looking at the 15" versions for so many years?
I have considered some of the other styles of 17" wheels from year one, but the sizes and backspacings won't work on a Chevelle (or an Impala) .
Scott, Im going thru the same deal-io ! Since the GTO is now back in the shop for body work, I need to put a set of wheels on the waGOON. Im Taking the team 3 E-T classic fives off since I stole them from the GTO. I think Im gonna go with 235/55 17 up frt with a 7 inch/ 4.250 bs and 235/55 18 out back with a 8 inch/ 4.50 bs. Im trying to decide between E-ts and Rocket Boosters.
here are the E-Ts
and the Rocket Boosters.
now a friend suggested the 17 in hurst wheels.....

Thanks - that really helped me make my decision. I just ordered the 10th anniversary wheels! Puuuurrrfect for a cat flatenner with clear corners and a 30" MTX sub.
I want to thank everyone for their responses. More than 80 replies and 4000 views in four days. I'm flattered by people wanting to help out. I've looked at every suggestion. Thanks to all of your help.
I am not one who follows the easy path, nor am I follower at all. Its the reason why I chose an Impala to build instead of easier, more prolific and mainstream muscle cars. I refuse to blend in. My personality extends to my ride. I dont like Torque Thrust IIs period. I think they look stupid. And, everyone has them.
