I've never been in it but it has some of the best reviews I've ever seen on the tripadvisor website. Stoney Creek is also about 2 blocks closer to the car show. Hope this helps someone...
Thanks, but it looks like we will be staying in Colorado. Ken's Mom is in the hospital and at this point we don't know when she will be getting out.

        Jim,

I'm going to bring all my extra magnets too. Once I trade for the ones I need, the rest are for 'giveaway' to help others complete their sets.

I have this pretty well planned out.......I think?? We will leave Sioux City by 8:30 AM Saturday morning, we will stop by the Sgt. Floyd Monument, then travel to Ponca State Park. There will be a $5 entry into the park unless you have a Nebraska Park Permit, we will stop by the visitor center and the Three State Overlook of the Missouri River, then a nice ride through the park. After that we will travel upstream, stopping at Mulberry Bend Lookout before proceeding across to South Dakota and drive to Yankton where we will stop at the Gavins Point Dam visitor center. Lunch will be at JoDean's, this is a lunch buffet, just stopping and looking around inside is worth the trip. After that we will cruise the SD side through our home town Vermillion on the way to Edgars Old Fashioned Soda Fountain in Elk Point, SD, then we have 20 miles back to Sioux City. As I have planned this we should be back in Sioux City 3:30 ish. Looks like about 165 miles or so. Is this OK with you guys? I know you have already sat in the car for a day to get here. We could shorten it by skipping Yankton, however it is very nice there. Let me know your thoughts!! Thank you.......

Sounds fine to me. Spending the previous day in the car/truck is not an issue for us.

                      George,

We can't drive over the old double deck bridge anymore, can we? I alway made a point of driving over it, if I was in town(that was in Yankton, right?). Part of the registration for RockNRods is dinner Friday night at Famous Dave's, is anyone going to that?

Marlon, the Meridian Bridge is now closed and under restoration, the new "Discovery" Bridge is just upstream, we will see both. Teri and I will probably be getting to Sioux City Friday night around 7ish.....

My parents said that the dinner at Famous Dave's Friday night was not worth going to if it is as it was last year.

Thanks for the info Brad, we went a little later to Famous Daves, however we never registered for the show.......... Here was the deal.........We were looking for a parking place, Famous Daves had some open places in there lot. So we pulled into their lot and the "Lot Guard" said.....Are you dining at Daves? So we said yes and asked if we ate there does that mean we could leave our cars in that lot for the rest of the evening? The guy said Yes that would qualify for us to stay parked there after we ate. So we had Famous Dave's BBQ that evening and had a good place to park the rest of the night........

The basic registration fee to RocknRods is 5 bucks. You can park in the show area but that doesn't include drag racing or the Famous Dave's meal. The meal is 15 bucks, but that doesn't mean you can order anything off the menu(you get a limited number of choices). I had the meal last year and it was pretty good(hoping the fire alarm doesn't go off this year).

I know some of you know this stuff, but some are 'first timers'...

I forgot about the fire alarm last year, yes we were dining with our friends and the alarm goes off. Employees had no clue what to do or what was going on. Amazingly everyone that was eating just kept on eating despite the loud abnoxious sound. Also here we have firemen walking through the restaurant and people are still digging into their food. Kind of funny now that I think about it....... Thanks for reminding me of the story.......

Drag Racing I think is $75 now that the pre signup date has past........
