Hey men, I could use a favor. I need specs on the brake line for the right rear of a 92 F150. The hard line from the junction block to the wheel cylinder. I'm 97% sure I beat up the line replacing the wheel cylinder for inspection and now it leaks. The truck is at home and I'm stuck at work and am having a buddy pick up the part. I, like a jackass, assumed a reputable parts shop would have a catalog on the part...wrong again!
Ford brake line help.

It's 3/16" diameter line as you've probably guessed, but the fitting sizes may be larger than a standard 3/16" tube nut, may even be metric. Ford doesn't sell that as a pre-made line, and they also don't catalogue the size of the fittings on the older applications either (and I'm pretty sure that the aftermarket wouldn't have them listed accurately either) ... so you will have to match the sizes up at the parts store.

That's the way it seems, which would be fine on a normal day haha. Unfortunately I'm stuck at work. Maybe the BS powerhouse can pull through. If not oh well I'll tackle it tomorrow. Thanks for the help Ed.Dustin in PennsylvaniaComment

You can have them pull another wheel cylinder off the shelf and tell them to match it to that?Comment

Now there's an out of the box idea. That may be a stretch for these good ol boys. I might just let it sit until tomorrow. I can yank the old line off tonight and just grab a length tomorrow.Dustin in PennsylvaniaComment

That's a good idea, but if it's an offshore sourced cylinder, the hole sometimes doesn't even match with the original!!
Generally on the trucks of that era, the fitting in to the T-block is the standard 3/8-24 UNF for a 3/16" line, and the end in to the cylinder is one oversize, 7/16-24 UNF.

Got the line off this evening. All went fairly smoothly. I'll let ya know what fittings I end up with after I get it back together.Dustin in PennsylvaniaComment
