I am in the middle of installing mine right now. Which one of the cable anchors did you use? I don't recognize what I think that I see on yours. Also, did you end up threading your cable?Originally posted by 61BISCAYNE View PostHere is a picture of my cruise linkage setup....when you got a fast car, you think you've got everything.

Yes, I threaded the cable and I used the short cable anchor with the looped end and slipped it over the ball-stud on my carb linkage. Then I just snapped the throttle cable over the stud to hold it in place.Originally posted by 67 Malibu View PostI am in the middle of installing mine right now. I am putting it on the '67 Malibu, which is the old style solid linkage type of throttle. Assuming that your '70 El Camino is a cable throttle, it should be a bit simpler, Several times last night I considered converting this Malibu to a cable.Originally posted by BLUE STREAK View PostWhich vehicle are you putting it on? Thanks Ken
I ended up fabricating a bracket for the cable that bolts to the intake in one of the coil bracket mount holes. The problem at the moment seems to be holding the cable from turning while I thread it. Being an old Harley guy, I know how easy it is to screw up cables.
So I decided to call it a night & give their (Dakota Digital's) tech support a call on it this morning.

Probably a bad choice of words on my part. I was trying to figure out which anchor that you used for the cable sleeve that you threaded. My problem at the moment is figuring out how to keep that outer sleeve from turning while I thread it. Without crimping it down onto the cable itself. After flirting with different options for mine last night, my guess is that you used what they call a "flag nut"? Very nice looking job on yours. Is that one of the Lokar cable throttle kits?Originally posted by 61BISCAYNE View PostYes, I threaded the cable and I used the short cable anchor with the looped end and slipped it over the ball-stud on my carb linkage. No problem. I am going to try again to get this cable sleeve to thread. I spoke to their tech support this morning & got some ideas. They also have a braided cut to fit cable option that I may go to because this cable is about twice as long as I need it to be.Originally posted by wolf66 View Post67 malibu i would like to see pictures of your install with the solid linkage when you get done. i want to do my 66 chevelle with the solid linkage just curious how it will work. thanks...when you got a fast car, you think you've got everything.

Yes, I used the flag nut. But I did not use it for threading the cable. I used the lock-nut, "G15" in the instructions, to thread the cable. I wrapped the cable housing with some electrical tape and held it with a pair of pliers to keep it from turning. Then, I removed the lock-nut and screwed on the flag nut. The most difficult part was getting the threading nut started straight. Thank you for the compliment on my installation. My throttle cable is a Lokar knock-off.Originally posted by 67 Malibu View PostProbably a bad choice of words on my part. I ran into the elec fans not being enough to cool the engine on my 79 Trans Am-had to go back to the old clutch fan as well. I talked to one of the head guys with Spal cooling at SEMA a few years back and he said the old 2nd gen Pontiac clutch fans moved like 4600 CFM and he didn't know of anyone who had an elec fan or 2 fans that would cool enough if the car had a/c. I found that to be true. A few guys on some of the Pontiac boards say there is a factory elec fan app that works, but I never tried it. It was off some kind of Lincoln.Originally posted by 59brook View Postforgot about an alignment ,new whitewalls, new radiator and dual electric fans, remove elec.fans due to overheating reinstall mech. fan ,new motor mo nts and tranny mo nt2011 Long Hauler

MK VIII - but you need a big alternator as it spikes pretty hard when it starts up!Originally posted by Thomasmoto View PostI ran into the elec fans not being enough to cool the engine on my 79 Trans Am-had to go back to the old clutch fan as well.
